Fatou Diawara and me at Austin

The Mali born singer is a delight to watch and hear. She used to sing along with Oumou Sangare. Today she has her very own CD – Fatou. I think its a great CD, terrific rhythmic and groove based songs in Wassolou and Bambara, two regions in Mali. Her songs are very touching and address issues relating to women, children, freedom etc. Listen to the song Buloko, its beautiful.

To get a glimpse of her performance, click on the link below to see her high octane almost hypnotic dance performance at the Wobeon (World Music Festival) Austin.
