Dr. Prabha Atre – The nightingale entralls the large audience

Submitted by on April 27, 2014 – 5:49 pmNo Comment

At 82, she is all encompassing with grace, humility, poise and in still full control of her nightingale like voice.

What a treat the NJ audience gave us yesterday night by bringing her to us. Originally planned as a small house concert had to be moved to a proper venue so that hundreds of listeners dont get dissapointed. A very timely call by Anil Khare of Taalsadhana, as otherwise many of us would have missed this simply memorable and unique performance.

Starting with Shyam Kalyan, she waded thro ragas Kirwami, Madhurkauns, Dadra and a Bharavi with ease.

She is what we all should hope for to be as we age, keeping the youthfulness like charm, the energy and excitement that showsone passion and overall the grace and humility of wisdom and experience.

She was Accompanied by: Dr Chetna Banawat (Vocal), a deciple od Dr Prabha Atre, performed with grace and depth.

Kedar Naphade on the Harmonium and Vikas Naregal  on the Tabla, completed the beautiful night with their soulful performances.

This is one night that will be etched into memory and very hard to forget.
